The Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular consoles Nintendo has ever produced, with a wide variety of games to choose from and plenty of unique features. We’ve already gotten to play new entries across the Zelda, Super Mario, and Pokémon series on Nintendo Switch, but there are still plenty of great games on the way for the hybrid console. These include exclusive games developed internally by Nintendo, as well as third-party titles and ports of games that are also available on other platforms.
CONTENTS
There are lots of games to look forward to on the platform. These are the best upcoming Nintendo Switch games for 2023 and beyond. Of course, some titles without release windows could skip the Switch entirely and wind up on Nintendo’s next-gen console.

Blasphemous II – Summer 2023
The Game Kitchen’s Blasphemous made a name for itself as one of the most brutal Metroidvania games of the last decade, both in visual style and gameplay. They will also encounter weapon memories that expand their moveset. Blasphemous 2 will be released this summer.

With co-op gameplay, Emerald Powers, and brand-new levels, it offers a fresh twist on the classic Sonic formula. The game’s trailer showcases a modern art style while maintaining the beloved gameplay from the Sega Genesis days, including bonus stages.
What sets Sonic Superstars apart is its cooperative play, which allows players to control Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy as they work together to conquer stages. The teaser at the end of the trailer hints at the possibility of additional playable characters, as Fang makes an appearance. Combining nostalgia with innovative gameplay, Sonic Superstars promises an exhilarating experience that will delight longtime fans and newcomers alike as they embark on a new adventure with Sonic and his friends.

The game also features minigames that more closely resemble the Rhythm Heaven series. Rift of the Necrodancer will be released later this year.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will tell the tale of Middle-earth’s favorite trickster (and most cursed hobbit) as he evades capture and deals with his split personalities during his hunt for the One Ring. After several years in limbo, the new LOTR title is set to launch on most consoles in May — unfortunately, Switch users will have to wait a while longer.
Hollow Knight: Silksong — Q2 2023
One of 2017’s absolute best games is getting a sequel in Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it’s headed to Nintendo Switch sometime in the future. It will take the stunning visuals, Metroidvania gameplay, and atmosphere of the original Hollow Knight and put you in the shoes (do these creatures wear shoes?) of Hornet, a princess who is tasked with protecting Hallownest. Silksong was announced last year, and we haven’t gotten much of an update on its development, but hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer. If it’s half as good as the original, we’re all in for a treat.

Games with no release window
All we know about the games listed below is that they’re in development. Most of them are probably a few years away from launch.
Project Bloom – 2026
GenreAdventure
DeveloperGame Freak
PublisherPrivate Division
The only thing we know about the mysterious Project Bloom is that it’s being developed by Pokémon creator Game Freak and appears to be set in ancient Japan. This project isn’t set to launch until early 2026, so it’ll be a while before we really know what it’ll look like.
Metroid Prime 4 – TBA
Since we’re on the topic of games we know nothing about, word of Metroid Prime 4 got out several years ago at an E3 Nintendo Direct presentation, but we haven’t heard anything from Nintendo since.
Supposedly, the game was still in the developing process at Bandai Namco. Still, the game was not advancing as quickly as Nintendo expected, and it was thus scrapped and restarted with Metroid Prime trilogy creator Retro Studios taking the wheel. We don’t know if the game will launch in the next few years, but we do know one thing: Metroid fans are great at waiting. Otherwise, they may get stuck with another game like Other M, and no one wants that.
